We are a small business, located in a cozy, beautiful dance studio, committed to sharing our love of pole dancing and sensual movement with our amazing students and friends. We get to know our students well; at Steel Heart Dance, you're always welcomed into a caring space where you are supported and respected. We offer introductory classes, beginner, intermediate, and advanced sensual movement classes, open studio time, workshops, and special events, all grounded in our love of dance and our open hearts.

Christina--Owner

Christina took her first pole dancing class in 2006 and fell into instant, deep love. She found that through pole, she grew more accepting of her own body and the bodies of other women, she became more confident, and she became part of an amazing community that nourishes and supports her. She also had the most fun exercising, ever. When the opportunity came to start Steel Heart Dance, she made a passion-driven decision and jumped in! Christina is also an elementary school Teacher Librarian, a caretaker, and the mama of Boots the Wonder Cat and Penny the Lucky Dog.

Deb began pole dancing with S Factor in 2004. She became a popular instructor at their San Francisco studio, as well as their teacher mentor.

In addition to being a caring, knowledgeable instructor she is also an avid student. She attends as many classes as possible, whether it’s yoga, ballet, ethnic dance, or pole dancing. Most recently she has added the Xpert pole dance instructor certification to her dance bag. 

Deb started dancing at 3 years old and hasn’t stopped since! She has danced professionally with numerous companies over her 30-year career as a dancer. She is trained in classical ballet, jazz, modern, Afro contemporary, and is a Brazilian dance fanatic. She holds a black belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, and is the reigning World Pillow fight champion.

Deb has been a certified fitness instructor for over 25 years, and is also a certified personal trainer. She is one of the founding members of the high flying, sexy aerial burlesque group Cirque Noir, based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Cirque Noir is a performance group known for their highly skilled performances on the stationary dance poles and for their abilities to thrill spectators as they soar and spin on other aerial apparatus as well, all while pushing the boundaries of what is considered to be burlesque.

In her teaching, Deb brings her knowledge and love of movement to her students with enthusiasm and care. She challenges her student’s individual needs, and can read her students with intuition gained with her experience as a teacher. Along with learning to love their bodies without judgment, her students say they find the confidence to try new things in her class.
